In Detail Sugar Born To Wing Gel Eyeliner Roadhouse Blues 02 Review, Swatches and My Experience

Sugar Born to Wing Eyeliner comes packed in a rectangular cardboard box with girly print on it. It has every necessary information printed on it. The designer prints are same as almost all their products. The actual product comes in a tiny transparent plastic jar with a long cap and a brush attached to it. This packaging reminds me of L’Oreal’s brow pomade it has the exactly same structure like this gel eyeliner.

It has a twist open and close cap which closes tightly. The bottle is sturdy I accidentally dropped it once, while applying but it did not break. The pot has a clear case, so it is easy to recognise the shades. The pot has just the brand logo and range name printed on it.

The brush which comes with it is very soft and enables the application of liner smoothly and precisely. The brush applicator picks the right amount of the gel liner and makes it glide on the lids like butter without any tugging or pulling.

The amount of product it contains is less than other brands’ gel eyeliners. It contains only 2.3 grams of product. Whereas other brands have 2.8 to 3 grams.

It comes with a built in brush which is very handy and also very travel friendly as we do not need to carry a separate brush for the eyeliner. Also it is so tiny in size.

The colour which I am reviewing today is called Roadhouse blues which is a beautiful royal blue color. It has a slightly metallic finish to it. It sets into a matte finish after 1 minute of application.

I use it as a kajal as well as eyeliner sometimes depending on my mood. This was the colour I was looking for since ages. It was a long wait but finally I found this exact colour I wanted, I am in love with it now.

The texture of the eyeliner is very creamy and soft. It glides on my eyelids effortlessly. The eyeliner is not that opaque in one go I need to dip in the brush at least thrice to get the best out of it. As you can see in my eye swatch I had layered it thrice to get this kind of pigmentation. The pigmentation of this eyeliner is ok not to light not to dark.

Gel eyeliners are usually smudge-proof as well as water resistant. Moreover, they are highly preferred by MUAs as these last onto the eyelids and waterline for a good 12 hours and above.

I read the reviews of this eyeliner in so many blogs and everyone raving about it. They say, that it lasts on them for 10 hours. I do not know why are they say this, because as per my experience, this statement is absolutely false.

This eyeliner, stayed on me for 3 hours and after 4 hours it faded. Almost 50 precent of it was gone after 4 hours. So the staying power of it is average. I had high hopes for this eyeliner and also from the brand before purchasing it but this time they disappointed me as far as the staying power is concerned.

MBF Advises

  1. Overall its a okay-ish product. If you like such blues which are difficult to find in drugstore brands you should definitely try this roadhouse blues from Sugar cosmetics. It is a beautiful unique blue color.
  2. Nowadays gel kajals are available in pencil form and in different shades. You can try those instead of this as they can usually tend to perform good in terms of pigmentation and lasting power as compared to this one.
