The Day of Love – Rajasthani Marwari Style !! Happy Karwa Chauth ๐
I wish a beautiful day to all the ladies fasting for their partners today. Karva Chauth gives everyone a reason to celebrate togetherness and fall in love all over again.
Howmuchever couple may fight, the idea of being able to sacrifice for the other partner in the name of his long life brings back the love which may have been hidden in the hustle and bustle of life.
I would share what my mum did today. Since I am not yet married, I am not sure if I will be doing a karwa chauth special make up today ๐ I however am planning to go shopping in the evening, if I get time. I really hope that I do get time ๐
Because I am a Marwari, we never had the tradition of watching the husband’s face through the sieve after looking at the moon like we always see on the television.
I have always seen my mother doing a pooja, where the ladies pray to the moon. Its called “Chaand ko arag dena” if I can remember correctly. Apart from this, we have a “Karwa” which is a pot made of molten sugar.
Every lady at home decorates her own “karwa” which is later presented to the eldest lady at home to seek her blessings for the husband. Then of course, the husbands feed the water to the wives and the ladies touch their feet as a mark of respect.
It is such a beautiful sight to see my parents do that because they are not really the kind of people who romance in public ๐ I wish I could be there at home today and watch them do that, while my brother and I giggle in a corner with our hearts overflowing with love.
Ayways, I know I kind of went on talking ๐ Now I would love to know how do you guys celebrate Karwa Chauth according to your tradition.
Its lovely to know everyone has their own ways of celebrating this day of love ๐
For all the husbands out there, I know I can understand your state of mind. Probably be like Mr. Burns right now ๐
nicely explained dear. being a south indian, we never follow this tradition but it is good to know ๐
