Price of Maybelline Micellar Water

₹ 399.00 for 95 mL in India
S$ 19.90 for 400 mL in Singapore
RM 24.90 for 200 mL in Malaysia
P 199.00 for 200 mL in Philippines
Â¥ 59.00 for 200 mL in China

So basically this product is available in Asian markets right now. Haven’t seen it in the USA or UK markets currently. Hopefully it becomes available in those markets soon. Also, if you notice, the size of micellar water launched in India is 95 mL ONLY! However, in rest of the Asian countries, it is available in 200 mL and 400 mL bottles for approximately the same price when you convert the currency. Hence, this product is definitely very costly in India.

In Detail Maybelline Micellar Water Review, Demo and My Experience

The micellar water comes in a basic transparent bottle with a pink coloured flip open/screw top. The packaging is very simple yet looks cute. It is a tiny 95 mL bottle therefore should be fine to travel with. Its made of sturdy plastic material which does not get compressed easily, also the flip top closes with a click. Maybelline has mentioned the product details including a detail ingredient list at the back.

The micellar water does not really smell like anything. It is basically odourless. It looks like water as well as feels like water on touching. Inside the bottle, there are these bubbles which always sit at the surface of the level of the liquid. According to maybelline, this product is not only meant for makeup removal. It is also serves the purpose of cleaning, hydration and soothing.

How I Use it

I take a cotton pad and soak it in the micellar water. Then I gently wipe my makeup with the cotton pad. I make sure I am gentle specially near my eye area. After first round, if I feel like some amount of makeup is left, I repeat the process one more time. I only use this product as a makeup remover. I do not use it as a toner because the ingredient list of this micellar water is full of chemicals. Normally I use my Mario Badescu Rose water Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs or Kama Ayurveda Rose Water. I prefer using less chemicals on my face when I do not have any specific problems to target.

Effects

The Maybelline Micellar Water works well as far as makeup removing is concerned. It takes of normal everyday makeup nicely. What I really like about it is the fact that it neither dry out the skin nor leaves it oily or greasy. It leaves the skin feeling fresh and supple. However, I did not notice it doing anything for my pores. Also, I observe that this micellar water does not effectively remove heavy duty waterproof mascara and waterproof matte lipsticks easily. Although, it wipes clean Kajal, normal lipsticks, foundations, eyeliners in one go. So, it is a great option for everyday makeup removal. But for waterproof makeup, you might have to go again and again with this.

Overall Verdict

Overall I feel the Maybelline Micellar Water makeup remover is a good product if you’re looking for a makeup remover which can take off your everyday makeup. If you’re trying to remove waterproof mascara, deep coloured matte lipsticks, you may have to repeat the process 2 to 3 times or go with a different alternative depending on the formulation of your mascara. I really like that it doesn’t dry out the skin as well as does not make it feel oily. It just leaves the skin feeling soft and supple. Never caused any irritation on my skin. I would however point out the fact that Rs. 399/- for 95 mL is definitely costly. Specially when we know that this exact same product is available in neighbouring countries in double the size for the same price.

Demo 1 – Kajals, Lipsticks

In the first demo, I have swatched 2 Kajals – Maybelline Colossal 24 Hrs Kajal and Colorbar MesmerEyes Kajal. And 2 Lipsticks – Maybelline Lip Gradation Coral 1 and L’oreal Moist Matte Lipstick Lincoln Rose. I let them set for 5 minutes after application, and then removed them with the Maybelline Micellar Water. As you will notice in the demo photos, it effectively removes both Kajals and Maybelline Lip Gradation Lipstick in one go. However it took 3 rounds to take off the Loreal Moist Matte Lipstick.

Demo 2 – Normal and Heavy Duty Mascaras

In the second demo, I have swatched 2 mascaras. First is faces Magnet Eyes Mascara (Normal) and second one is Loreal Million Lashes Mascara (Heavy Duty). I soaked a cotton pad and kept it on the mascaras for 1 complete minute and then wiped. While Maybelline micellar water completely removes Faces Magnet Eyes Mascara, it leaves behind some traces of Loreal Million Lashes mascara.

1. Does not remove waterproof heavy duty mascaras effectively.
2. Takes 2-3 rounds to remove waterproof makeup.
3. Expensive for the quantity provided in India.
4. Has a lot of chemicals.

MBF Advises

1. This is a great makeup remover for regular use if you don’t use waterproof makeup a lot.
2. Although this says that you do not need to rise off after using it, I always cleanse my face with a cleanser after removing my makeup at night. This makes sure I have absolutely no residues left whatsoever. Any makeup residues left on the skin can cause breakouts.
3. Always be gentle on your skin, specially around the eye area while removing makeup.
4. If any product irritates your eyes, wash it with lots of cold water immediately.

  1. Purchased this on my last visit to Singapore. I love using this to take off my face makeup, but not for eye makeup. Good deal for a small price.
