In Detail Nicka K Velveteen Lipstick Raspberry Review, Swatches and My Experience

Packaging

The packaging looks quite nice. Colour coded shell with transparent cap. Its different yet quite attractive. However I do have to mention that the plastic is not good quality. You can actually tell that the material feels inferior quality. Other than that, I really appreciate how they have put down the ingredients list on the lipstick itself.

Texture, Formula, Pigmentation, Finish

The lipstick glides on the lips really smooth. I love how it feels velvety. The formula isn’t really drying. At least I did not experience any drying effect on my lips while wearing it. Pigmentation wise, I have to say I am not super impressed. I have to swipe it at least 3-4 times in order to get the true colour on my lips. Also, if you have pigmented lips like me, you definitely need to swipe it at least 3 times. Finish is just like the name suggests. Its has a velvety or rather i’d say a soft matte finish. Its really comfortable to wear.

Shade Description – Nicka K Velveteen Raspberry

Raspberry is a beautiful warm berry red shade with slight yellow undertones. This is a red which would suit every skin tone equally. I love how the shade isn’t too loud yet not really subtle. Its just enough to make a statement while staying sophisticated.

Wearability, Transferability, Stay Power

I wore this shade for 3 hours without any fading. After 3 hours, this does start to fade starting from the centre of the lips. Therefore I am not that happy with the staying power of this lipstick. It does transfer slightly. Therefore you may want to keep it in your bag for touch ups. What I am really disappointed about is the fact that the lipstick does not fade evenly. Therefore whenever I wear this, I cannot NOT afford to carry it along for touch ups. Other than that, I have no issues with this lipstick.

Overall Verdict

Nicka K Velveteen Raspberry is a beautiful shade. It will compliment all skin tones. You can pull of a score of outfit combinations with this. I wish the pigmentation was a little bit better. Also the lasting power is a little off. Otherwise, rest of the features are upto the mark. I would say this is one of the very affordable soft matte lipsticks available out there. Definitely check it out if you’re looking for an affordable matte lipstick.

6. Use a decent makeup remover to remove the colour from your lips completely
