3 Maybelline Red On Fire Lipsticks Review, Swatches: Hey guys, I hope you had a lovely Valentine’s evening with your loved ones. Maybelline has come up with this special valentine’s limited edition lipsticks called Red on Fire Lipsticks. In all there are 5 shades in this range. I just picked up 3 shades because the other 2 didn’t seem very appealing to me personally.

However, the website I ordered it from messed up my order and sent me a different shade of one lipstick. Basically I ordered Smoky red, Ashy red and Mercury red. But they sent me the first 2 and Volcanic red. Anyways, moving on lets’s see the swatches of the shades I have. Let me know if you need individual reviews as well.

In Detail 3 Maybelline Red On Fire Lipsticks Review, Swatches and My Experience

The packaging of these Valentine’s edition Reds on Fire is stunning. I mean who does not like red and black? Totally stands out as far as the packaging is concerned. However the shortcoming being, you cannot figure out the shade of the lipstick unless you look at the bottom.

The bottom label has the shade name and number. Of course, the bottom label tries to match the shade of the lipstick, however we all know that a paper label cannot replicate the exact shade of a lipstick. Oh, and it closes with a click, so safe to travel with.

There are 5 shades in this range. All the 5 shades, each one has a different finish as illustrated above. I chose to purchase 3, but due to some mess at the online retailer’s end, I got the shade volcanic red instead of mercury red.

I will update the swatches or do a separate review and link it here for that shade in case they take my complain seriously.

Maybelline Red On Fire Smokey Red 01 Lipstick

This is the most stunning lipstick to look at. Look at the bullet. It feels like this lovely smoke rising in the background of red. I mean, I am sold at how this looks. Now, don’t think this lipstick will have the same effect on the lips. The smokey-marbled appearance is only to be seen on the bullet.

It applies as a normal even coloured lipstick on the lips. It is a lovely medium- deep red with blue undertones. Will suit almost every single skin tone. It has a comfortable finish. Neither matte, nor glossy.

Maybelline Red On Fire Ashy Red 02 Lipstick

Well I don’t understand the logic behind this name. This is your statement true red of this range. A gorgeous red that would suit everyone. Maybelline says this has a powder matte finish, however I feel the finish is normal or comfortable matte. Not exactly powder matte.

Maybelline Red On Fire Volcanic Red 04 Lipstick

I wanted mercury red 🙁 Anyways, lets turn the sad face into a happy one because this shade is not exactly underwhelming. In fact, this is a very unique red shade. It is a medium red with extremely fine holographic shimmers. You will not notice the shimmers unless you look at it closely attentively. So on the lips it has this subtle frost finish.

Overall, the average staying time of these lipsticks is 4 hours. They do fade quickly if you’re eating. Some shades transfer less, but no shade is completely transfer proof. The shade smokey red does leave a stain on the lips which is hard to take off unless you use an oil based makeup remover.

1. Never forget to prep your lips before applying any lipstick. This takes your lip look from 5 to 10/10 in 5 minutes.
2. Some shades aren’t completely opaque in a single swipe, so you can build the pigmentation according to your preference.
