In Detail St. Ives Acne Control Apricot Scrub Review, Swatches and My Experience

The St Ives Apricot scrub comes wrapped in a thin polythene. The actual scrub is poured in a fun and vibrant multicoloured bulky tube with all the important information present in it which is very useful for beginners as well as non beginners.

The scrub has a flip open pearly white cap which closes tightly ensuring that the scrub can be travel along with without the worry of spillage and creating a mess. I really love its packaging its fun vibrant and attention grabbing. I like such fun packaging products and I purchase products by just looking their packaging sometimes.

The smell of the scrub is to die for its mild and fruity and not over powering at all so sensitive noses girls will enjoy using this scrub. The consistency of the scrub is very creamy and mild and does not feel greasy at all.

Texture wise, the scrub has the right amount of granules to scrub face. Also note that the scrub is a little on the abrasive side. Well, personally I love using these kind of scrubs as they help in deep cleansing the skin.

Girls who do not like such abrasive scrub should stay away from this. Also you can see at back of the tube where the brand has mentioned weather the scrub is gentle, moderate or deep and you can choose as per your preference. This one has “deep” exfoliation factor.

How I Use It

I use scrubs at least 4 times a weak without fail, I also mainly scrub my face and follow it up with a face mask. I take a big coin size amount of this scrub and massage my face as well as neck for good about 5 minutes very gently and wash it off with a plain water.

Effects

After washing my face feels much smoother and it appears glowing. Also I felt that it brightened my skin to some extent. In fact, the granules act really well in exfoliating my skin deeply.

The scrub has 2 percent salicylic acid in it. Salicylic acid is really good in treating acne. I went to a dermatologist once and all the medications she recommended to me contained salicylic acid I have acne prone blemished skin. Hence, this was also a main reason to pick this product.

Despite having salicylic acid it did not dry out my skin or strip off all the moisture from my skin. But for dry skin girls they may feel the need of applying a hydrator once done with this.

It removes dead cells, decreases black and white heads remarkably, cleanses properly and unclogs pores.  It doesn’t break me out ever.  My skin feels fresh, smooth and cleansed after the use. In addition to all, it brightens skin perfectly but I didn’t noticed any permanent difference in my skin tone.

The scrub is non comedogenic that means it will not clog pores and cause breakouts especially for acne prone skin people. But well, I honestly didn’t felt any reduction on my acne active as well as non active. So it basically did not work on my acne as such. But otherwise, it is a really good face scrub.

MBF Advises

Dry skin beauties as well as combination skin girls should use a good hydrating moisturiser post using this scrub.

If you are suffering from a lot of whiteheads and blackheads I will suggest you to steam or wash your face with warm water as it will open all the pores and than scrub your face and after that wash your face with cold water to close open pores.
