It may be slightly costly, but its products so far have always shown good results on my skin. So anytime I buy something new from them, a part of me knows that I am not wasting my money.

Well monsoons have been a little harsh on my skin. I started breaking out a little and my combination skin started getting a little dull. Almost a couple of months back, I went to Noida, and I picked up a few things from the Kama Ayurveda store at DLF Mall Noida.

I have been using this since I got it. Today, I am going to share the details about how this product worked on my skin and if this is worth the hefty price tag it comes with. Please continue reading to know more.

How to Use Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub

Wet face with water, massage a small amount gently into the skin and scrub for a few minutes. Rinse well. Use it once or twice a week.

In Detail Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub Review and My Experience

The Kama Kumkumadi Face Scrub comes in a amber colour glass jar. It has a black screw lid on top. Inside, there is another lid to avoid accidental spillage of product during transport. This glass jar comes housed in a cardboard box which mentions almost all the details about the product.

I love that they include a wooden spatula with the jar. It is so much more hygienic. Also, somewhere the wooden spatula adds to the ayurvedic aesthetics of Kama Ayurveda brand.

When you open the lids, you’ll see this light yellow colour product inside the jar. The jar isn’t full upto the brim. The smell of this scrub is quite nice. It has a very mild creamy smell, somewhere I get saffron hints as well. But the saffron notes aren’t very prominent. However, when you look at the scrub, you can actually see some saffron strands in it.

The consistency of the scrub is creamy. If you keep it in colder air conditioned environment, it might set slightly like mine has. The texture is really nice for a face scrub.

If you look at the ingredients list closely, you’ll notice that it has almond seed extracts and walnut shell powder as the scrub particles. They are powdered to a size, which is just right for facial skin scrubbing. The creamy base and the gentle exfoliating particles make it a lovely facial scrub.

How I Use it

I wash my face with my cleanser (Currently using the Kama Ayurveda Rose and Jasmine Face Cleanser). Pat my skin dry. Then, I scoop out one spatula full of this scrub and massage it gently on my facial skin. I spend like 2-4 minutes gently scrubbing my face with it. Its really mild, and does not irritate my skin.

As I am working it on the skin, it eventually feels like its drying. I mean it does not feel as wet as it felt in the beginning. Eventually, I wash it off with normal temperature water. Kama suggests using this once or twice a week. I have been using it twice a week.

Effects

After I wash off the scrub, the first thing I notice is how smooth my skin looks. It feels really soft to touch too. This Kama scrub does not dehydrate my skin at all. In fact, I feel it nourishes it.

Another noticeable effect the Kama scrub has is tan removal. After a couple of uses, this remarkably reduced my tan. I think, this is one of the most efficient tan removal products I have ever tried. As a result, my skin looks bright and glowy.

I have some pigmentation around my mouth and eye area. This scrub helps reduce the pigmentation to a good extent. Over a period of time with regular usage I could notice it working on the dark spots and blemishes as well.

The only thing it doesn’t do much about is blackheads/whiteheads. Also, I do not exactly have fine lines or noticeable signs of ageing. Hence, I cannot comment on these two areas.

Overall Verdict

I feel this is one of those face scrubs which actually delivers what it promises. Although slightly costly for 50 g of product, this does last a long time. You only need a little bit per usage.

It helped clear up my tan. It sure made my skin feel smooth and soft. Also, brightens up my skin whenever I use it. Love the fact that it never leaves my skin feeling dry. On a humid day if I use the Kama scrub on my face, I could actually skip using a moisturiser on my combination skin.

Overall, I feel this is one of the most effective facial scrubs available out there. Skin type wise, I think all skin types can try this out. I wish they had smaller trial sizes available so that one could try out the product before splurging all the way.

1. Always do a patch test before using any product. Does not matter how luxurious or well known a brand is. Some ingredients like toluene are known irritants on the skin. These skin care products have them in much lesser quantity, so that they do not cause those harmful effects. However, to be on the safer side, there is no harm in performing a patch test first.
2. Be gentle while scrubbing your facial skin. Its delicate.
3. This is an ayurvedic product, do not leave it open and unused for a very long time.
4. If you want to take it along while travelling, scoop out some of it and put it in a travel friendly small container.
