I am feeling little under the weather, than too, I had manage to write my reviews, because I love this work. Today I am reviewing my most used and favourite product which is also a new launch from Lakme. It is Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Powder foundation.

Lakme had previously launched a lipstick in this Primer + Matte range which I haven’t tried yet. Now this powder foundation. When I was shopping I spotted this and when I swatched it, it felt so smooth I immediately picked this up. To know more about this product please continue reading my views.

How To Use Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation

1. Step 1: Take some compact on a powder puff. Shake the puff to remove any excess powder.
2. Step 2: Wipe your face with the compact puff in long, even strokes. The strokes should move from the inside, to the outside.
3. Step 3: Wet it if you want to use it like a foundation base.
4. Step 4: Even apply it all over your face. Don’t forget your neck area.

Packaging

I really love the packaging of this powder foundation. In fact, the thing which grabbed my attention was its packaging. This powder comes packaged in a pink square cardboard box with all the information printed on it except its ingredients. The actual powder foundation is in a cute rose gold reflective case which is round at the bottom. I really like the rose gold lid of the case, it looks very classy. The bottom is made of plastic to avoid any damage. The lid closes tightly and hence it is travel friendly.

It has 2 compartments in the case, one carries the powder pan and the other carries its puff. The bottom has small holes to it, so that the puff can get ventilation. Because the product can be used wet or dry. I usually do not use puffs for applying my powders, so I threw that away. Overall I really loved the packaging of this compact foundation.

Texture & Finish

The texture of the foundation is very smooth and silky. On swatching it for the first time, it felt almost like butter. The finish it provides is almost matte. Hence it is not for dry skin beauties as it may enhance dry patches of the skin.

Wet Application Vs Dry Application

Lakme says that it can be used wet or dry, I used it with a wet puff provided in it and Oh My God it did not apply well. It looked patchy even on my oily skin. Applying it wet is not an good idea according to me. Hence, I apply it dry with my foundation buffing brush to set my foundation. The coverage it provides is sheer. It does not conceal any dark spots or pigmentation thoroughly. But does conceal minor spots and gives an even complexion. I enjoy using it over my foundation, and currently I am obsessed with it. You can see my obsession in my pictures, I have already hit the pan on this product.

Shades

It comes in total of 6 shades, which are all meant for Indian skin tones. I am using the shade 03 silky golden. This shade is one tone lighter than my skin tone. I prefer using compacts which are one shade lighter than me. It instantly brightens my skin and it gives very natural look and does not look made up.

Staying Power

This stays on my oily skin like forever. Whenever I set my foundation with it, my makeup lasts longer and I don’t feel any need to touch up even after 4 to 5 hours of application. It sets my foundation completely. I also use this to set my under eye concealer and it does set it and prevents my concealer from creasing.

Overall Verdict

Lakme 9 to 5 Primer + Matte Powder Foundation comes in a lot of shades to choose from. It will not suit dry skin girls if used in wet form. Staying power of it is really amazing. Oily skin girls like me will love using this to set their foundation. Overall I loved their packaging, staying power and texture. I will definitely repurchase it.
