In Detail L’Oreal Color Riche Gold Obsession Lipstick Mocha Gold by Eva Review, Swatches and My Experience
L’Oreal recently came up with its gold lipstick collection. I was very excited from the day I got to know of their new launch so as soon as I saw it at an online store, I grabbed it. After using it for 4-5 times, I decided to review it.
Packaging
I have always been fond of L’Oreal’s packaging of their lipstick. They all look very royal and pricey. And even then they are very sturdy. This one has a black and golden bullet case which makes it stand out from the rest of the products in my vanity. Like most of the other L’Oreal lipsticks, a button on front side shows the exact colour of the lipstick, which means you don’t have to open it to see shades. Also the same is mentioned on the bottom side along with shade name.
Now, I have a couple of other lipsticks from l’oreal and they all say Made in France, but this one says it is made in China. I am not sure if I should ignore the fact that all cosmetics manufactured in China has to undergo animal tests.
Texture
I always prefer dark shades over pinks. Though I liked a couple of colours from this range, I preferred Mocha Gold. It’s brownish red with golden shimmer in it. One swipe is enough to show the colour, but I prefer having 2-3 swipes to make it deeper and darker.
The product is very creamy and full of moisture. The lipstick has no fragrance which is a plus since I’m allergic to strong fragrances.
Now coming to the actual product, I used it on dry lips, and voila, it worked fine as if I was wearing a lip balm. It made my lips look more plum and glossy.
Being creamy, this one transfers a lot. This is one of most transferring lipstick in my vanity. I don’t just dislike it, I hate it. It transferred on anything my lips touched even slightly. In fact by the end of the day, I had lipstick on my arms and clothes. So next time I used it, I tried blotting it, but it doesn’t work. The product comes off on the tissue leaving behind a stain and some gold shimmer. But even after that it transfers. I mean how is that even possible?
One plus point which I found in this product is that even after being so creamy, it doesn’t bleed. I have used it without lip liner and it works fine.
I really wish I can find a way to work with this product. Except for the colour, I don’t think there’s any other reason to spend on this product. For the first time, I’m highly let down by l’oreal.
Stay power
As I already said, this one transfers a lot. So it is obvious that is doesn’t stay for long. It stays for about 3-4 hours and which reduces with meals. And after a while, I noticed only shimmer on lips along with the stain. This one left a brownish-pink stain on my lips, which stayed on for a long time. I won’t say its bad, but it definitely is bad for a lipstick which costs this much. I always preferred l’oreal for its decent stay power, but after trying this lipstick I want to reconsider my options.
Now I can’t stop comparing this with Lakmé Absolute Illuminating Lip Shimmer. They both are very similar except that Lakmé has used coloured shimmer in its lipsticks and retails at a cheaper price.
Overall, a very disappointing product from l’oreal. If you really want to purchase any shade, try it at a counter and wear for a day before spending your hard earned money on this.
