TonyMoly I’m Real Makgeolli Mask Sheet Review: Hey guys, if you watch YouTube, you probably would have heard the name of this brand called TonyMoly. It’s a mid range Korean brand which is more famous outside Korea. Its fame can be attributed to the fact that one, it’s Korean and two it’s cute packaging. It recently launched in India and every skin care enthusiast picked up a few items.

Well I’m no different. I picked up a few items myself. Today I’m talking about one of their sheet masks.

Sheet masks have become popular in India like almost suddenly. Nobody used to talk about them but thanks to the amazing PR personnel from the Korean brands making their way in India, every one has a stash of sheet masks in their collection. Coming to our mask here, we’re talking Makgeolli today.

Makgeolli, sounds unique doesn’t it? Well According to google, Makgeolli is an alcoholic beverage widely consumed by farmers in Korea. It looks kind of milky. It comes under the category of rice wine. So why am I using a skin care product with alcohol you may ask!

So the answer lies in the fact that this rice wine is rich in Vitamin B as well as some amino acids. These are supposed to have a brightening and firming effect on the skin. So this is the reason Tony Moly calls their Makgeolli as a “skin purifying” mask.

In Detail TonyMoly I’m Real Makgeolli Mask Sheet Review and My Experience

The sheet mask comes in a packet which has a designer shape. I think all the Tony Moly I’m Real sheet masks have a unique cut shape to them. It makes the packaging fun and nice to look at. The backside has all the details related to the product in Korean as well as English. Overall the packaging is quite unique in a good way, and easy to carry along.

Inside, the sheet mask is richly soaking inside a rich slightly milky looking serum. Now, this is my first sheet mask from Tony Moly. I have tried a lot of sheet masks from The Face Shop and Innisfree before. The difference between them and this one is, this sheet is slightly thicker as compared to the other two. Well thicker but still very soft. Also, the serum feels more rich on the skin.

How I Use it

I wash my face with my Kiehl’s Ultra Facial cleanser and pat my skin dry. Then I carefully unfold the mask and set it on my face. I let it stay for like 20-30 minutes and then take it off.

In that time, it hadn’t dried on my skin completely. So whatever serum was adhering to my skin, I gently massaged it in. Please note, that the essence which is left behind is not supposed to be washed off. We are supposed to massage it in and let it be.

Effects

First things first, this mask is very hydrating. It really gives a great feeling on the skin. I also noticed that my skin looked more plump and radiant because of the nice moisturising effect of the mask. My face looked more nourished and even toned.

The effects lasted on my skin for like a day at max. In fact, I honestly feel this is a great pre-makeup hydrating mask. Because it does not leave the skin feeling sticky and yet hydrates it well.

However, I have had very similar results from lots of other masks that I have tried in the past. I did not see any unique or extraordinary results from this one.

But then this literally costs the same as the other sheet masks available in the market. So if you’re curious about “whats the deal with this Makgeolli thing” 😀 for sure try out this mask by Tony Moly.

It delivers what it promises to an extent and not a bad one if you want to try it out.
