Price of Lakme Absolute Skin Natural Hydrating Mousse Foundation

₹ 750.00 for 15 ml in India
When I saw this product on the counter, I thought it was a tester because it looked so small. But when I opened the packaging, I realised that it’s actually a full size product. 750/- bucks for 15 mL does seem very expensive to me.

In Detail Lakme Absolute Skin Natural Hydrating Mousse Foundation Review, Swatches (Shade 02 Velvety Beige) and My Experience

Starting of with the packaging, it comes in a black cardboard packaging as usual. When you open it, you see a small size plastic bottle inside which is very lightweight. Of course it has to be lightweight as there is very little quantity of 15 mL inside. It also comes with its own pump dispenses which is great. Pump dispensers prevent the product from getting wasted. Overall the packaging is very handy and safe to carry at work or long tours.

Coming on to the shades they have only 4 shades available in the range which I feel is quite disappointing. Lakme as an Indian brand must realise that we have a variety of different skin tones. Hence, coming up with only 4 shades as such will not suffice to suit majority of the Indian skin tones. I mentioned this issue on my previous lakme foundation review as well. Therefore, I am upset with the shade selection. Beauties with deeper complexions may not find an appropriate shade in this range.

Finally, let’s review. I will be reviewing the Lakme absolute skin natural mousse hydrating foundation in shade 02 velvety beige. Just to let you know guys I am NC42 in MAC. I generally like to use a foundation that’s one shade lighter then my actual skin tone. My skin is combination to oily. Hence, foundations do tend to oxidise after 1-2 hours on me. So I matched my self to 02 Velvety Beige, as a shade lighter then my skin tone.

Now to let you guys know that this foundation is a mousse foundation and has a very soft as well as silicon-y texture. So you don’t need to apply any primer underneath your foundation. Because with a primer underneath, the foundation may end up slipping from your face. The foundation has a very sheer to medium coverage but not really build-able. It looks very natural on the skin which is great. It doesn’t makes my makeup look caky or heavy. The foundation in itself is very lightweight.

However, this foundation does not cover any of my marks or blemishes. I am someone who prefers a foundation which can cover these things. So I have to use a separate concealer underneath my makeup. Although it claims to be dewy, the foundation seems semi matte to me. I like to use this foundation on a daily basis just because of the coverage and the finish of it. Lastly this foundation is a close dupe of Lakme’s original mousse foundation. Sorry to say I won’t really call it a dupe but it’s exactly the same just the packaging difference. The foundation smells like chemicals, which is very repulsive to me

So on the positive sides, the texture is this foundation is very soft and buttery. It blends very easily into the skin. The staying power is 3-4 hours after that it starts fading. But touching up with a bit of compact just makes it look fine.

However its limited shades, lack of coverage, extremely small quantity for the price are a big turn off for me. Also the fact that this seems exactly like the Lakme’s old skin mousse mattreal foundation makes me want to think that this was not worth the money I spent.

  1. Great review! Except I found the mattreal mousse to leave a whitish cast on my face but this one doesn’t. This is possibly the first foundation I used that matched my skin tone exactly! I use the shade, “Natural Almond”. I have combination skin but it lasted quite some time. 🙂
