Biotique Bio Fruit Whitening & Depigmentation Tan Removal Face Pack Review: Hey guys, I am going to talk about another clay based face mask today. This is from a very affordable salon range brand called Biotique.
First things first, the name of this product itself sounds racist. I mean “whitening” seriously? I know we Asians are obsessed with fair/white skin tone and these brands take advantage of such obsession. But I honestly hope that they realise their mistake soon. Indian markets are pretty much flooded with a lot of racist brands and from time to time I keeping talking about them. I really love some of Biotique’s products but to see them coming up with racist titles and claims, really bothers me.
Well, now let us continue with the actual review of this product.

In Detail Biotique Bio Fruit Whitening & Depigmentation Tan Removal Face Pack Review, Swatches and My Experience
This product previously was sold in a tub packaging. Now, it comes in a red colour tube packaging. I appreciate the packaging design upgrade. However, I have to point out that the tube plastic is made of a stiff material. So when you reach a point where you have used 3/4th of the product, squeezing the tube to get the remaining product out gets kinda hard.
It looks dusty pink in colour. The colour is because of “geru powder” which has this particular colour. Mask has a smooth texture. The consistency is pretty runny. So it is easy to apply and spread on the facial skin. However, runny consistency and a stiff tube aren’t the best combination. Sometimes, while trying to squeeze out the product, it just goes overboard and I end up messing up the mouth of the tube with some extra product spilling around the brim.
It has a strange smell to it. I cannot put a finger on what exactly it is although I have a rather comprehensive smell index. Whatever it is, it is not a pleasant smell. Thankfully, it fades away within 5 minutes after applying the mask.
How I Use it
So after cleaning my face with my facewash, I take the product on my finger and apply it on my face and neck. I try to be gently yet apply enough pressure. Still, sometimes it erupts out in excess. I apply a moderate even layer.
Initially for a week I used it every alternate day. But when I did not see any visible effects, I started using this everyday. I used this everyday for the next week.
So as I apply it, I experience this burning and tingling sensation on my face mostly on the upper lip, cheek, undereye area. This uncomfortable sensation settles down in 5 minutes.
I let it sit on my skin for around 15-20 minutes. It dries up almost 70% by then. Afterwards, I wash it off with normal temperature tap water. Use this before shower if you want to avoid making a mess around the sink. Although, this is not as messy as ordinary clay masks due to its thin consistency.
After washing my face, I notice that my skin doesn’t look super dry. There is a slight brightening effect because the multani mitti clay absorbs all the oil/dirt and grim from the skin. However this brightening effect lasts only for an hour or so. Apart from that, I see no visible effects of this mask on my skin.
Coming to its claims of whitening/lightening/depigmentation, I am shocked. Such big companies openly promoting racism is beyond irresponsible. I wonder if they even have any moral ethics.
I used it for 2.5 weeks till the last drop of the product. I did not notice any whitening or lightening effect on my skin. It didn’t even work on the temporary dark spots which we get sometimes. All it did was very slightly brighten up the skin for an hour after application. If you’re into skin care, you know this effect can be achieved even with a good face wash which gets rid of oiliness and superficial dirt on the skin.
I think I am not a fan of this product. It pretty much does not perform as per my experience. It is very affordable so you may give it a try if you wish but I wonder if it would give you any noticeable results. I wouldn’t advise this for sensitive and/or dry skin beauties because it causes this burning sensation everytime I use this.
Through my blog, I would also urge Biotique and other such companies to stop promoting racism.

CONs of Biotique Bio Fruit Whitening & Depigmentation Tan Removal Face Pack
- I really dislike that burning sensation specially when a product does not perform even 1% of its tall claims.
- Very short lasting results.
- Does not whiten or lighten the skin. It did not make me fair. It won’t well It Cannot change anyone’s skin tone. Be proud of your skin tone and please do not fall prey to such racist marketing tactics of such companies.
- Packaging can be improved. While the tube packaging design is a good idea. I wish they use a less stiff material for the tube.
- Ingredients list is incomplete. What are the ingredients used in the “Cream base”, I’d like to know.
Please please don’t punish yourself for skin tone. Each and every skin tone is beautiful. Such companies only try to extract the maximum monetary rewards without thinking about the effects of such marketing on young girls, teenagers etc.
Unless you’re comfortable in your own skin, these brands would continue to make you feel inferior by telling you that “fair is better than dark” which is an absolute bullshit. Fair and dark are two natural colours and they are both beautiful.
