I basically have a collection of baby care products. To be honest I belong to the commonest category of moms out there who literally browse through every ingredient in a product and its details before I start using it for the babies.

Cetaphil honestly has never disappointed me so far. So today I am talking about one of my most favourite baby care products from Cetaphil. I am probably on my 10th bottle now because this is one of the most consistent products in my kids’ shower routine.

In Detail Cetaphil Baby Gentle Wash & Shampoo Review, Swatches and My Experience

The first time I came across this product I was pretty intrigued. Because it said that this is a shampoo + body wash. So I went through the ingredients list, and I liked how there were no harsh ingredients for the baby’s skin. Therefore, I didn’t think a lot before adding it to the cart and ordering it straightaway.

The packaging is simple and very functional. It has this while colour body with dots on the outer parts so that it does not slip while handling with soapy hands. The blue dispenser end has a protective silicon mechanism. So even if you mistakingly leave the flap open, the product will not flow out on its own. The product flows out only when you squeeze the bottle with adequate pressure. Pretty thoughtful for a product which is meant for kids isn’t it?

It has a moderately thin consistency with a smooth texture. It looks like a clear creamy fluid. Smell is kind of nice. It is very mild and I don’t think it would be a problem with any kid. Kids probably won’t even notice.

Another important thing which I wanted to ensure was the pH of the product I am going to use for my kids. Always remember the recommended product pH for small kids is around 5.5 (max. 7).

How I Use it for my kids

So I use a bathing chair for my kids which I keep inside the tub. I use it like a shampoo on the head and like a normal shower gel on the body. It creates a very nice and soft lather. After that I wash it off. It rinses off easily and does not leave any soapy residue behind.

Both my kids have never had any problem with it. In fact my daughter has a sensitive skin and ordinary products don’t suit her. However this Cetaphil gentle wash and shampoo has not given her any trouble. It’s gentle enough on her skin.

Effects

So I already said in the beginning, I have repurchased this product over and over again. Reasons- First, it is so much easier to use one product for hair as well as body. Secondly, it has no harsh ingredients.

Hair- It makes the hair feel super soft and nice. At the same time cleans it well without making it feel too dry. It removes all traces of dirt or food particles which sometimes get caught in kids hair. Also, it helps with tangles too to a great extent. My elder one has curly hair and its quite a task to get her to sit still while I comb her hair properly. Therefore I love that it actually helps ease the tangles.

Special Mention- My elder one had cradle cap in infancy. I used to use this product, and it did not irritate it. Although cradle cap goes away on its own, I am pretty positive this kept the area clean so that it could become better quickly.

Skin – It cleans the skin nicely without making it too dry. Again, never caused any irritation whatsoever. It leaves their skin clean and soft. My daughter recently fell down in the garden while playing and had an abrasion near the elbow. This product did not cause any burning or irritation on that area while bathing. It also does not sting the eyes.

Overall Verdict

I have to declare this as one of the best baby products that I have ever tried for my kids. Because it is 2 in 1, it makes bath time easier for mumma and fun for kids. I would totally and completely recommend this product to all the mothers out there who have been looking for a good shower product for their kids. I have used this right from day 1 for my younger baby and I will continue using this.

I know the price tag is a little bit on the higher side, but you do not need a lot of product per usage. This one bottle of 230 mL lasts me more than 3 months when I use this for both my kids. So I am not complaining at all.
