Bath & Body Works Salted Caramel Eggnog 3 Wick Candle Review: Hi guys, BBW candles are by far my favourite. I like candles by Jo Malone as well because they have flawless performance, however Jo Malone is incredibly expensive – costs almost double as compared to bath and body works and that too for half the size. So I tend to get more Bath and Body Works candles. Today I am going to talk about Salted Caramel Eggnog Candle by Bath and Body Works.

In Detail Bath & Body Works Salted Caramel Eggnog 3 Wick Candle Review and My Experience

I have spent a large part of my school years in a convent school. Because at the time, convent schools were considered most up to the mark and they were the ones with highest english speaking teachers. If you’re from India and you’re a 90s kid, you know what I am talking about. Convent schools used to be good and yet every parent wanted their kids to go to a convent school.

So basically I was very used to the culture of Christmas, and in fact its very close to my heart. My entire family loves to celebrate all the festivals and Christmas is a huge part of our family holiday time. Earlier it used to be all about the X’mas tree, cakes and gifts. But as we are growing through our 20s, I have realised, it is about so much more than that.

Well coming back to the point, this candle – The Bath and Body Works Salted Caramel Eggnog 3 wicked candle usually comes around holidays (correct me if I am wrong). As far as I know (from watching countless english sitcoms and movies), Eggnog is traditionally an emulsion of egg with milk and some alcoholic beverage, exclusively made around christmas holidays.

Now being honest, I have never tasted a traditional eggnog but I can relate to the smell since my best friend’s family who are christian used to host dinner get togethers around Christmas time and they used to serve it to the guests. We weren’t allowed since we were under 18.

The BBW Salted Caramel Eggnog candle has a beautiful packaging. Of course it comes in their signature glass jar with a metallic reflective lid. The sticker around it is beautiful. It has golden holographic snowflakes on it and a golden reflective strip around the base. The whole vibe from the packaging is very luxe.

It is a 3 wick candle and the wax is off white in colour. The wicks are really good quality. All the details are mentioned at the base of the candle. The candle burn is great and it emits almost zero smoke except for when you immediately put it off.

Speaking of the actual fragrance of the candle, well the description by BBW says that Salted Caramel Eggnog has notes of “Gooey Caramel, Fresh Sea Salt, Dulce de Leche, Sweet Whipped Cream with Natural Essential Oils”. Delce de Leche is sweetened and caramelised condensed milk, it smells very similar to the Indian sweet – “Milk Cake Mithai”.

However, this is the first BBW candle whose smell was an instant regret. I mean, I was expecting caramel, condensed milk and creamy notes like we smell in some bakeries. But this smelled straight up Eggnog and that too quite overwhelming to be honest. Did I mention I absolutely loathe the smell of eggnog. The smell of eggnog in this one is so prominent that is basically subdues the other smells that it might have had. So I smell no caramel or anything remotely related to a bakery.

I usually have all great things to say about BBW candle and do not get me wrong, if I loved the smell of eggnog, I might have enjoyed this too because other than the smell, the candle is pretty much awesome. But unfortunately, I am not an eggnog person and I should have gone by the name of the candle and not just looked at the fragrance notes which was given in the description. Because the description has no mention of it smelling like eggnog.

So my final verdict is pretty neutral to be honest. It is a good candle per se but for me personally, because of the foremost eggnog smell, it is not something that I would burn again. But if you like eggnog smell, then you might really enjoy it. If you like gourmand scents, you may appreciate it as well. In India, we cannot return products just because we don’t like them. So there is no question of returning. All I am going to do is, give it to someone who appreciates the fragrance.

Candle Quality Check

Throw Performance – 15/10 (yes the throw in this one is total amazeballs!)
Burn Performance – 10/10
Packaging – 9/10
Wax Colour – Off White
Fragrance Appeal – 1/10 (because I personally do not like eggnog smell)

CONs of Bath & Body Works Salted Caramel Eggnog 3 Wick Candle

  1. I am not a fan of the fragrance in this particular case.
  2. Expensive outside USA.

MBF Advises

  1. Try to shop in store for things like fragrances and candles as much as possible. I learnt my lesson the hard way. If you’re comfortable with fragrance notes or if you have tried the scent before, then only purchase online. Of course, always read 4-5 reviews because that will give you an idea about the scent and what you can expect from it. This is specially helpful in cases like mine where big stores are not present in my city.
  2. Sometimes cold throw of a candle may be very slightly different from the hot throw.
  3. Try to purchase such expensive candles during holidays, they are often on sale.

MBF Rating

4.5/5 (When I ignore the fact that I do not like the scent.)
