COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA+++ Review, Demo: Hey guys, I know this sunscreen was launched in 2015 but (better late than never) I just discovered COSRX in 2022. I always used to shy away from dewy sunscreens, I would always look for matte sunscreens. However, trust me, it was like an awakening when I started trying out dewy sunscreens.

In Detail COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA+++ Review, Demo and My Experience

So I first came across this sunscreen on instagram. Then I read about it on a facebook group. Again on youtube, and just like that, next moment I found myself checking out with this sunscreen in my cart. Its been around 5 weeks since I have started using it and its almost empty now. I just couldn’t stop using this everyday.

The CosRx sunscreen comes in an opaque white tube with a flip open cap. The packaging is very minimalistic yet has a charm in its simplicity. The ingredients are mentioned on the outer carton box in english (most other information is mentioned in Korean). I actually love such kind of packaging, its easy to use and looks pretty too.

I find its very important to talk about ingredients in detail whenever I am talking about skin care products and sunscreen is the most important of them all. In fact, I kind of avoid covering products on my blog that do not come with a complete ingredients list because I can’t talk about something that I do not know entirely about.

So starting off, This sunscreen is basically a hybrid sunscreen. It has physical as well as chemical sun filters in it. Let’s have a look.

Chemical filters – Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Isoamyl p-Methoxycinnamate

Physical filter – Titanium Dioxide (I wish they’d mentioned the exact percentage here)

Hydrating and Soothing agents – Glycerine, Aloe Vera leaf extract and Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate (an extract from licorice plant).

Antioxidant – Vitamin E

Apart from the above major categories, it has formula supporting ingredients, fragrance, preservative, solvents.

I know it has fragrance, but I kind of hardly ever notice it for some reason. May be I get some aloe like herbal smell but I will always wonder if its from the actual aloe or the added fragrance. Well who am I kidding, its the added fragrance is what I think.

Like I mentioned in this post above, I used to be a matte sunscreen person. But I have combination skin and sometimes my skin tends to be drier than usual. I thought this would come in handy for those days. However, once I used it, I found myself using it everyday.

It has a really nice light weight creamy consistency and a smooth texture. It applies just like a moisturiser and even if I use a little extra, it still blends in seamlessly. On humid days, I sometimes actually skip my moisturiser and apply this directly on my skin and it works great. It does not make me sweat or make me extra oily like a lot of other sunscreens do.

Now let me come to the best part. When I used it for the first time, I loved how this made my skin look just dewy and not oily or greasy. It was actually like a healthy glow. In fact, it does not make my skin get more oily. It just stays put without being weird.

My skin looks nice and glow-y and never a tad bit dull. << and this is what I am talking about, why I have signed up as a fan for this sunscreen. SPF 50 protection, with hydration and dewy skin without turning you into a greaseball. Wait, did I tell you this does not leave any white cast at all. (I am NC 42 MAC for reference).

On the days that I do want my skin to look matte, I just powder on some translucent powder and I am good to go. You might ask me why not go for your regular matte sunscreen when you want to look matte.

Well the thing is, this sunscreen is quite hydrating in nature so I think now, when I have discovered the world of dewy sunscreens, it is a bit of a tricky situation for me to go back to plain matte sunscreens. I will still keep trying matte sunscreens because I love trying out new things, but my goto sunscreens would always be these hydrating ones.

Another important thing I noticed is, how gentle it is. Like if I leave on my regular sunscreens on my face for longer than 5-6 hours, I often notice those white pin head zits on my skin. However with this one, even if I leave it on for 6-7 hours, I did not notice any such irritation.

If you goto CosRx’s official website page for this sunscreen and scroll through the images, you will notice this picture where they mention that –

the CosRx aloe sunscreen has completed UV protection index human application tests and have been found to abide by international standard ISO 24444: 2019 as confirmed by the Clinical Institution JS. Hamilton (Poland) and the Clinical Trial Center for Bio-Industry at Semyung University (Korea) as well as the Korea Dermatology Research Institute against domestic product standards.

Overall Verdict

I feel like if you’re a person with combination to dry skin type or if you want to use a dewy sunscreen, this is one of the best out there. Its affordable as compared to most other sunscreens of similar nature and its effective.

I love it and I will repurchase this for regular use. If you haven’t tried it before, well let me take this opportunity to recommend something that changed my skin care game. I hope you like it as much as I do.

Also, if you have used it, please do not forget to leave a comment and tell us all about your experience with it.
