Kama Ayurveda Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil Review: Hey guys, coconut oil is a staple in my skin as well as hair care routine. I also use it for my 15 months old daughter. In fact, after having a baby I decided to go for more organic and natural options. Earlier I used to use just normal Parachute coconut oil.
I got this from the Kama Ayurveda store in Jaipur during the holiday season. They usually have a 200 mL bottle of this, but that time during a special promotion, they had it in a small 50 mL size. I decided to get that first.
Honestly, I just wanted to know why is this so costly when otherwise I can get a normal 100% pure coconut oil – Parachute at a reasonable price. I exactly wanted to understand if this works any different or has any special advantages over other pure coconut oils which are available at slightly better affordable rates.

In Detail Kama Ayurveda Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil Review and My Experience
The Kama Ayurveda coconut oil comes in an amber colour plastic bottle with a gold colour screw top. Pretty standard packaging for Kama Ayurveda products.
I somehow misplaced the cap yesterday night while I was watching Game of Thrones season 8, episode 3 (btw, omg flying Arya Stark! 😮 ), while oiling my hair with it. May be the cap fell under the book cabinet or couch. Can’t find it yet. So please excuse me. Otherwise, like I said, this is a very standard packaging for Kama products, nothing out of the box.
The Kama coconut oil smells exactly like normal coconut oils. It does not have any added fragrance or anything, just pure coconut oil smell. It has the same light feeling. I always prefer coconut oil specially during summers over other oils because it is light weight and does not cause much stickiness.
As compared to regular parachute coconut oil, this has a slightly lighter texture to it.
How I Use it
This is a multi-use oil for me. I use it on my skin, my hair, my daughter’s massage as well as her hair. It works really nicely and keeps the moisture locked in.
Coconut oil is said to be one of the very few oils which actually penetrates the hair shaft. Hence, its efficiency at nourishing specially hair is above any other oil. I regularly encourage you guys to oil your hair because it is the best way to prevent dry, rough and damaged hair.
When we talk of the effects of coconut oil, we all know we will talk only positives. Because coconut oil, in my experience has never given anyone any negative results. I’d like to concentrate more on – why is Kama Ayurveda coconut oil better than the others.
To be honest, I did not notice any other special effects. I usually use parachute coconut oil which is used in almost all Indian household. The effects it has are same as the effects Kama ayurveda coconut oil has.
The only reason why I can think of choosing Kama ayurveda’s coconut oil over my regular one is because the later is made by organic, pesticide free coconuts and the technique use is cold pressing which is said to be the best way of extracting pure oils.
Kama Ayurveda Coconut oil is a great oil to try out specially if you love vegan products. There are other options in the market as well. However the aesthetics associated with the extracting and manufacturing of this particular oil is indeed appreciable.
I highly recommend everyone to try out coconut oil in daily routine. You may try this one. Or if you’re on a budget, there are other good ones available in the market at more affordable rates.

- Good packaging, looks luxurious. Available in 2 sizes.
- Smells great, made by cold press technique.
- Coconut oil nourishes hair and skin better than most other kind of oils.
- Does not feel very sticky or gross.
- I have been using this for my toddler and it has so far worked good on her skin as well as hair.
CONs of Kama Ayurveda Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil
- In winters, coconut oil tends to solidify. So you will need to warm up the bottle to that the oil can melt and pour through the mouth of the bottle.
I have hardly seen anyone sensitive to coconut oil. Once when my daughter was 3 months old, she developed some allergic rashes because of a johnson & johnson product.
Her paediatrician recommended to use pure coconut oil on her skin and nothing else. I used parachute coconut oil as well as Kama ayurveda coconut oil for a month till her rashes were completely gone. So I feel it is one of the safest oils.
