I got this Bright Out Loud Maybelline Lip Balm which has an SPF of 15. I think the reason why maybelline lip balms are so super commonly used is because they are so affordable, readily available and they work quite nice in general. So, let’s talk about this lip balm in particular today.

I am sure you have used a maybelline lip balm before. This particular “bright out loud” is taller than the usual ones. It thinner, more sleek and taller. I always like taller lipsticks because they give better precision on the lips. Hence, such a packaging in a tinted lip balm is of course welcome. It closes with a click, so very easy to carry along.

It has a nice mild fruity smell which is not bothersome even though I am not a fan of fruity smells. It has a lovely buttery smooth texture. It is definitely not sticky and does not feel waxy. Very comfortable while applying on the lips. The bullet does not break or melt easily.

I use a lip balm everyday. Tinted lip balms are the best way to give a little flush of colour to the lips. Even if you don’t wear makeup, some colour on the lips just lights up the face so much. I feel tinted lip balms could be everyone’s ride or die.

I apply this everyday in the morning after shower. And then through the day as and when I need to. Once applied, it stays on the lips for around 2-3 hours after which it fades out. However, even after disappearing from the lips, it leaves them super soft and moisturised. I love how this provides an in depth hydration to the lips as well as heals dry and chapped lips on regular application.

This can be comfortably worn under a lipstick but make sure you apply a very light layer. Don’t be heavy handed if you’re wearing this under a lipstick.

The shade vivid peach is a really nice peach colour with warm undertones. This shade will suit almost all skin tones. It is pretty sheer, but not super sheer. I mean you can wear this to work if you are not comfortable wearing a lipstick for any reason. This will give a nice sheer tint at the same time cover minor pigmentation of the lips.

Final Verdict

Over a period of time, I have started to like this lip balm. My last lip balm “Fresh Sugar rose tinted lip balm” was amazing too. But, it was more sheer than this and also the bullet used to melt up pretty fast. So the Fresh lip balm did not last very long plus of course it was expensive. I think this maybelline bright out loud is a good option in the drugstore. It does exactly the same things and isn’t super costly.

Also, I like this lip balm way more than the “Maybelline Candy Wow lip balm“.

1. Nice slender packaging, makes it even easier to apply.
2. Smells nice. Has a nice minty smell which is really refreshing.
3. Not super waxy, just the right texture.
4. The tint is not super sheer. So it would hide minor pigmentation of the lips.
5. Can be worn to work/college alone.
6. Keeps the lips moisturised for long, even after fading the lips are left soft, supple and hydrated.
7. Doesn’t transfer a lot.
8. Can be worn lightly under a lipstick.
9. Has some SPF. 15 is hardly going to make any difference if you’re stepping out for a considerable amount of time. But I guess something is better than nothing. Again, this SPF on lips is quite enough if you’re going to stay indoors.

Keep this in your purse and its amazing specially for summers. Just the right amount of flush on the lips and it just makes the look so complete.

Always remember to apply lip balm before bed. It just helps to heal the lips nicely and you wake up with really nice and soft lips.

Keep it in the fridge for an additional cooling sensation while application.

If your lips are very dry and chapped, use a lip scrub first and then apply a lip balm liberally at least 3 times during the day and do not forget to apply the lip balm generously at night as well.
