Bath & Body Works Surf Shop 3 Wick Candle Review: Hey guys, BBW has a lot of options when it comes to feminine fragrances, but when it comes to masculine fragrances, they have only a handful of options. One of these is this one we are taking about today – Bath & Body Works Surf Shop Candle.

Bath & Body Works Surf Shop 3 Wick Candle Review

Now I did not really purchase this candle. It was literally wrongly sent to me because they messed up my online order. And because the returns policy of BBW here in India is not customer friendly, I had to keep this one. They only accept returns if the product is damaged. If they accidentally send a wrong product, well your bad luck, you keep it!

Anyways, since I am a candle junkie anyway, I didn’t put up a fight and accepted this thinking of another whimsical purchase.

In Detail Bath & Body Works Surf Shop 3 Wick Candle Review and My Experience

So Bath and Body Works Surf Shop Candle comes in a very summery looking packaging. The colour of the wax is blue reminding you of the water on the beach. The label is super comforting with a beach scene. There is sun, waves, birds, surf boards, a little beach umbrella, all in a blue-gold (water-sand) theme. This is a little different from BBW usually does, plus the whole theme feels very relaxing.

And btw can we take a moment to appreciate the really pretty wave textured lid here, its lovely isn’t it?

When we actually burn the candle, the molten wax actually has a darker blue colour as compared to the blue colour of the cold wax. That actually looks very unique and nice. The gradient that creates looks beautiful.

What does Bath & Body Works Surf Shop Candle Smells Like?

Speaking of the smell, well this is indeed a very spruce dominated scent. I don’t think it is woodsy at all. In fact this has that minty throw, almost like eucalyptus. I mean if they’d used the word eucalyptus in the scent description, I wouldn’t have been surprised at all.

I wasn’t too impressed with the scent in the beginning to be honest but you know what, its been growing on me I think.

The throw of the candle is strong to medium I’d say. It isn’t intense, but yet extremely noticeable. Like, it of course fills in the space quickly, it also is able to make its presence felt outside the slightly open doors. The burn quality is okay too. There was some soot spluttering even after trimming the wicks. But its nothing super significant, so its cool.

Although this is supposed to be a manly scent. My husband wasn’t ready to gender-ise it really. He felt its a pretty gender neutral scent. He’s loves the scent of Bath & Body Works Leather & Brandy Candle. But this one, he didn’t mind. He said he wanted to compare it to the smell of a particular brand of laundry detergent (Which I felt was a pretty harsh comparison). But laundry detergents actually come in a plethora of different scents these days so who am I to say.

Overall I feel the Surf Shop Candle by Bath & Body Works looks prettier than it smells. Its cool, and nice but not something that I would want to repurchase. If they hadn’t “accidently” or “wrongly” sent me this particular scent of candle, I probably wouldn’t have purchased it because even the scent description of this candle sort of does not make sense to me. I mean what is the smell of “sparkling waves” anyone?

MBF Advises

  1. If you’re too choosy with the smells, please make a purchase in store because something, what you get if different from what you think you will get. Specially if you live outside USA because they do not have a very consumer friendly returns policy in India at least.
  2. If you’re purchasing online, like I did because there are no BBW stores in the city I live in (Jaipur, India), please read as many reviews you can online.
