In Detail Nykaa SkinShield Anti-Pollution Matte Foundation Review, Swatches – Desert Honey 09 Demo and My Experience

Firstly lets talk about its packaging, because product packaging also plays a main role at least for me. This nykaa skin shield foundation comes packed in a shiny black rectangular cardboard box which bears all the important information about the product. The actual foundation comes in a matte black color tube which also has all the information related to the foundation.

It has a small nozzle which takes care of the product amount we are dispensing. It does not cause product wastage. This foundation tube has a flip open cap which closes very tightly and this ensures that it can be carried around with us easily. Overall I really like its packaging and nykaa never fails me to impress with its packaging every time they launch something new.

The foundation comes in a total of 15 shades meant for every indian skin tone. I got the shade 09 desert honey which is one shade lighter than my skin tone. What happened was, I went to nykaa site and opened its shade card there was a shade and also there were pictures of girls with different skin tones wearing their shade match.

Actually the girl wearing the shade desert honey was looking 2 shades darker than me, so I thought of ordering this shade. So the shade swatches is misleading on their site according to me. I should have purchased the shade 11 or 12 fir my MAC NC 42 skin tone.

The foundation smell is little strange it smells like chemical to me, don’t know about others.

The texture of the foundation is very thick and creamy. I hated their previously launched foundation skingenious one which was very liquid-y and hardly had any coverage. The consistency of it is according to my liking.

I apply it by pouring at back of my hand and than dotting it all over my face and neck. Then I blend it with my Pac beauty blender. I also applied it with my foundation blending brush. Finally, I noticed that the appropriate way to apply this nykaa skinshield foundation is to apply it with a beauty blender or hands.

Applying it with brush gave me a streaky application so I ended up blending it with beauty blender eventually. It glides on my face so smoothly and seamlessly despite of being so thick in texture. Though it is slightly light for my skin, it does not look grey or patchy. I think it oxidises and adapts to my skin tone.

The finish this foundation provides is matte but it is not extremely mattifying. My skin looks little dewy and hydrated upon application. My extremely dry skin beauties will need a good hydrating primer or moituriser for added moisturisation.

The coverage of this nykaa anti pollution foundation totally depends on the way and how you are applying it. If you are applying it with a beauty blender it will give you sheer to medium coverage. While with a brush, it will provide you with maximum coverage. But it might give you streaky application.

Sometimes for achieving no makeup look I apply it with my fingers. When layering this foundation it does not look patchy and it does get blend quite easily.

Now lets talk about its lasting power, it stays on my oily skin for good about 5 to 6 hours easily. In addition, it does not crease under my eyes and also on my eyelids as I have hooded eyelids and foundation and concealer tends to settle in that area. However, with this one I did not face such issue.

My T-zone did became oily as time went. This happened because I did not apply any setting powder after foundation. When you use this foundation with a good setting powder, I think there will not be any need for touch ups. Finally, you will be needing a good makeup remover or micellar water to completely take it off from your face.

1) If you have extremely dry flaky skin than apply a good hydrating primer to get the best out of it.
2) Please choose your shade carefully or I will recommend you to go to any nykaa outlet and see the shade in person and then purchase it.
3) I personally did not love this foundation a lot because there are much better quality foundations at affordable rates like maybelline fit me or wet n wild photofocus foundation.
